Accelerating quantum materials development with advances in transmission electron microscopy
Chemical Reviews (2023)
In this study, scientists review how electron microscopy (EM) can facilitate the study of these quantum materials better. They explain different EM methods such as electron energy loss spectroscopy and scanning transmission electron microscopy, which can reveal the structure and behavior of quantum materials at picometer and femtosecond scales. The methods can also help researchers position atom-scale quantum information processing centers precisely and manipulate quantum materials.
The team also discusses the limitations of these methods and how they can be overcome to make progress in understanding quantum materials.
With the help of EM, quantum materials could play a big role in the technologies of the future, making them more sustainable and efficient.
